- Hands-on assignments:
- Basic html (using notepad or a comparable text editor)
- Cascading style sheets
- Web-editing and photo-editing tools (including Dreamweaver, Wordpress and Photoshop).
- Site structuring and navigation
- Headline writing
- Search engine optimization
- Link writing
- Basic Web page layout
- Build a resume package (in Wordpress) and a
- Multimedia news feature package (in Dreamweaver)
- Participate in a class blog
- Create their own personal blogs
- Create RSS readers on Google
- Use social media tools like Twitter and Facebook for reporting and marketing stories and interacting with readers.
- Work with free online interactive tools to create maps, banners or charts, polls and quizzes to help tell stories.
- Eye-tracking studies
